Term 4 Week 1 - Friday 6th October 2023
From our Principal
Dear Families,
Welcome to Term Four! Students have returned with great positivity and energy and we are looking forward to a successful term of learning.
This week was the feast of St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology. It also marks the conclusion of the Season of Creation. I offer this prayer in the words of his Canticle of Creation:
Praise be to you, my Lord, through all your creatures,
especially through my Brother Sun,
through Sister Moon and the stars,
through Brother Wind,
and through the air, cloudy and serene,
and every kind of weather.
Praised be You, my Lord, through Sister Water,
through Brother Fire,
through Sister Mother Earth,
who sustains us, producing
varied fruits with coloured flowers and herbs.
Praise be to you, my Lord, through all your creatures.
Early in my tenure at St Mary’s I established a maintenance plan and continue to work through the ongoing maintenance required at school. Over the past six months there have been various upgrades in the school grounds and facilities. These include polished and repainted Hub surfaces, replacement of the back deck, sanded and painted picnic benches, removal of gas heating in the Hub, a new cubby over in Adventure and roof maintenance (including internal plastering and painting). I am committed to providing a safe and inviting school aesthetic to complement our wonderful students and the learning that takes place here. This will be further realised when our building project commences early next year.
Congratulations to Ella Blandford, Eva Brady, Indi Buncle, Jethro Bourizk, Jack Christie, Drake Gray, Pat Harrington, Maddy Jardine, Pieter Jardine and Charlotte Start who will represent our School at the Greater Western Region Athletics carnival today. It is fantastic that so many of our students have qualified at this high level of competition.
I look forward to the fantastic term of learning and reflection that term 4 offers us.
Every blessing,
Roxanne
